Helix Midnight Luxe vs Sunset Luxe vs Dusk Luxe vs Midnight Elite: Which Helix Is Right for You?

We carry four Helix mattresses in the Billings showroom: three from the Luxe line and the Midnight Elite. People lie on all four and then ask the same question: what is actually different? Here is the straight answer, model by model, from a store that sells them every week.

The short version

Model Feel Built for From (Twin)
Midnight Luxe Medium Side and combination sleepers, couples $1,149 (Twin)
Sunset Luxe Soft, feels like a plush medium Side sleepers who want to sink in $1,149 (Twin)
Dusk Luxe Medium-firm Back sleepers, couples $1,149 (Twin)
Midnight Elite Medium, deeper and more cushioned Side and combination sleepers who want the best $1,999 (Twin)

Prices shown are the starting price for the smallest size. Every size is priced on the product page. All four are hybrids with zoned coils and a cooling cover, and all four come with a 120-night sleep trial.

Helix Midnight Luxe: the one most people pick

The Midnight Luxe is Helix's best seller for a reason. It is a medium feel hybrid that cradles your shoulders and hips where side sleeping puts the most pressure, then uses zoned lumbar coils to keep your hips from sagging. Supportive, but plush enough to feel like a treat when you lie down. If you sleep on your side or move around at night, or you share the bed and need a feel you can both live with, start here.

Helix Sunset Luxe: the soft one

The Sunset Luxe is the plush pick. A quilted pillow top and layers of memory foam cushion the shoulders and hips, and zoned lumbar coils underneath keep the hips from sinking too far. Helix rates it soft; most side sleepers feel it as a plush medium. If you want that sink-in feel, this is the one. If you sleep mostly on your stomach, it is probably too soft for you. Look at the Dusk instead.

Helix Dusk Luxe: the supportive one

The Dusk Luxe is medium-firm and built for back sleepers and couples. It keeps you lifted on top of the bed rather than sinking in, so your hips stay in line with your shoulders. A cushioned pillow top takes the edge off at the shoulders and knees while the zoned coils firm up through the middle. The edges stay sturdy when you sit or sleep near them and motion transfer is very low, which is why we recommend it to couples where one partner sleeps on their back.

Helix Midnight Elite: the Midnight Luxe taken all the way up

The Midnight Elite is the best mattress we carry. Same medium feel most people love, with a deeper, more cushioned build and the most advanced cooling Helix makes. Two layers of microcoils cushion the shoulders and hips while keeping motion isolated, and the zoned coil core gives heavier back sleepers strong support. If you sleep on your side or change positions and you want no compromises, this is the one. Stomach sleepers will find it too soft.

How to choose between them

  • Side sleeper, want plush: Sunset Luxe.
  • Side or combination sleeper, want balanced: Midnight Luxe. Want the best version of that feel: Midnight Elite.
  • Back sleeper, or a couple with a back sleeper: Dusk Luxe.
  • Stomach sleeper: Dusk Luxe is the only one of the four firm enough. Our Loft Firm and the MOLECULE Reflex 11 are firmer options.

All four are in the showroom side by side, which is the fastest way to settle it. Ten minutes on each, in your real sleep position, and you will know.

Every mattress we sell comes with a sleep trial: 100 nights on the Rimrock house line and MOLECULE, 120 nights on Helix. Shipping is free anywhere in the lower 48, in-store pickup is free, and local delivery is free within 100 miles of the store. Full details are in our shipping policy and trials and returns.
